Unlike the current wave of AI-native browsers like Dia, Comet and Atlas that function as glorified chat interfaces, Donut is a comprehensive execution layer built by embedding autonomous trading agents directly into the browsing experience.
The platform operates across three surfaces to create a comprehensive trading environment:
- Donut Browser: A Chrome extension acting as a co-pilot on any site, allowing users to execute trades without leaving the page.
- Donut Home: A web-based workspace for advanced trading with AI-enhanced charts that show what the agent sees.
- Donut Radar: A 24/7 signal catcher that monitors price moves and whale behavior while you sleep.
The Team: Builders of the Agentic Era
A vision this ambitious requires a team that has lived in the trenches of both AI, Consumer Experiences and Crypto. What sold us was the pedigree of the Donut team.
Founder Chris Zhu (who we have had the pleasure of backing previously with Sonic) and his team have been building AI systems for years, long before the current hype cycle. Chris has been building agents and crypto ecosystems since 2021, and he is joined by core AI researchers and engineers from Tencent, Foresight, and TradFi backgrounds.
They are further supported by heavy hitters in the academic and research space, including advisors Xi Chen (NYU - ML and DeFi) and Haoqi Fan (Ex-Meta AI Research).
